Rare German Spindler & Hoyer Gottingen 5×20 WW1 Binoculars

Description

A pair of rare vintage German compact Spindler & Hoyer Gottingen 5×20 WW1 binoculars without case. Good working condition.

The binoculars have 5x magnification and 20mm objective lens diameter.

Central focusing wheel.

Focus adjustment knob at the right eyepiece.

Pocket size – dimensions (when binoculars fully open): 135mm (W) x 75mm (H) x 37mm (D)

Weight: approx. 356g (0.8 lb.)

Note: Both objective lenses and eyepieces and the prisms under them have been cleaned where assessible. The binoculars are in collimation and give a reasonably clear images for their age. There appears to be slight marks left possibly underneath the prism face which could be cleaned further.

There is a light scratch on the outside surface of the right objective lens, as shown in the last picture, but this is hardly noticeable and does not seem to affect the performance of the binoculars in any way. Otherwise, no damage to the optics and to the binoculars body.

General wear and tear appropriate with age and use.

A rare find in the market.
