Description
This is a pair of vintage DENHILL 12×40 wide angle binoculars. ‘Denhill’ was a brand of imported binoculars sold in the UK in the 1950s and early 1960s. They were by French and German makers and were sold by J A Davis & Co. which had a store at 94-104 Denmark Hill London before the WW2. In 1951 Davis’ binoculars were made in France and they called them ‘Denhill’. The brand was based on the location Denmark Hill. See more information here.
The binoculars have 12x magnification, 40mm objective lenses and large 18mm eyepieces. Image focus is achieved by turning the central focus knob and this can be balanced by eyepiece focus on the right eye lens.
The binoculars have solid metal body with leather armouring. It is in good working condition. This item has important historical value and it is highly collectable.
