Description
WWI-era to 1920s German Oigee Berlin Oigelet D.R.P. 6x binoculars. These are an attractive compact pair of early 20th-century style field/opera binoculars, with black metal bodywork, brown leather covering, brass-coloured trim, central focusing and wide eyecups.
The binoculars are in well-used vintage condition with clear age-related wear throughout. There is noticeable wear to the brown leather covering, paint loss to the black metal surfaces, marks to the body, rubbing to the edges, and general cosmetic wear consistent with age. The maker’s markings are “Oigee Berlin”, “Oigelet D.R.P.” and “6x”.

The optics are intact and usable, though there is internal dust, haze/spotting and some visible marks/shadows when looking into the lenses from the objective end. These are less noticeable when viewing through the binoculars from eyepieces. The binoculars may benefit from further internal cleaning or servicing. Please note that they are being sold as a vintage collector’s item, and no guarantee is given regarding perfect optical clarity, collimation, or performance.
The focusing mechanism works well, including both the central focusing knob and the right eyepiece adjustment, and the binoculars fold and open as expected.
One eyecup appears darker/black, while the other has a brownish tone, which may simply be due to age-related variation.
There is no apparent damage to the bodywork or leather covering, apart from general age-related wear.
