Description

These are a charming pair of unmarked antique Galilean-style binoculars, finished in black with textured barrel covering, central focusing, and large rounded eyepiece cups. They have a classic late Victorian / Edwardian appearance and would suit collectors, display, theatre use, or light general observation.

There are no visible maker’s markings, so the exact manufacturer is unknown. Based on the design and construction, they are likely French or European, dating from around c.1890–1920.

The lenses are intact and clean, and the binoculars produce a clear image. The central focusing mechanism works well.

The binoculars are in good antique condition overall, with some age-related cosmetic wear, including light rubbing, small marks to the black finish, and wear to the textured covering. The case is included and has an attractive purple interior lining. The case shows age-related wear, scuffs, rubbing and general signs of use, but remains a nice period accessory.
