A pair of vintage German Hartmann-Optik Wetzlar model 117 6×30 binoculars with leather case. Clean lenses and good working condition.

A very rare German binoculars model.

No damage to optics and to binoculars body. All lenses and prisms have been cleaned where accessible and binoculars images have been calibrated for both eyes.

Note: The following technical information is for collectors who have some knowledge and experience in binoculars image collimation. This binoculars model has a special design feature for prism fitting and adjustment / image calibration method. Each prism is held in its place by two metal wedges (pressure plates) at each end of the prism and each wedge is pressed down by a vertical screw which can be adjusted from the top using a small screwdriver. This provides convenience for binoculars image calibration when necessary. It is more convenient to access/adjust the prisms from the front near the objective lenses because all the lenses can be kept in their places while adjusting the fixing screws of the prism wedge, as shown in the last photo of the listing. Please do not attempt the prism adjustment unless it is very necessary, as this can be a lengthy and complicated process.

For minor image balancing between two eyes, just slightly tighten or loosen one of the objective lenses while checking the image. Try the other lens if necessary and also open/close the binoculars which can sometimes help get the image balanced.
