Description
This listing is for an antique brass monocular student microscope, dating from approximately the late Victorian to Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910.
The microscope features an attractive lacquered brass optical tube and fittings mounted on a substantial metal stand, together with a rectangular specimen stage and adjustable reflecting mirror beneath.
Focusing is achieved through the traditional sliding/push-pull arrangement of the optical tube.
The microscope has been tested and is working. The optical components are intact and clean, and an image can be obtained through the instrument.
The microscope remains in good antique condition overall but shows age-related patina and cosmetic wear, including tarnishing, oxidation, scratches, marks and areas of loss to the original lacquered finish. These signs of age give the instrument an attractive and authentic period appearance.
