Description

A beautifully made antique compact brass microscope, best described as a simple or field microscope, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century. This type of instrument was commonly used for early scientific study, education, and field observation, rather than laboratory compound microscopy.

The microscope is constructed primarily of brass and presents well with an attractive aged patina consistent with its age.

The optical assembly remains intact. The microscope focuses correctly and produces a clear image when used. This microscope was most likely made in Britain or Western Europe.

Description:

  • Height (closed): 150 mm
  • Base diameter: 46 mm
  • General age-related wear to brass surfaces, consistent with an antique scientific instrument
  • Optics intact and functional, showing clear images under the objective lens
  • Light reflecting mirrow under the objective lens works well with all its original assebly components.

Note: This microscope does not have a wooden case.

This instrument is offered as a collectible antique scientific instrument, suitable for collectors, display, or educational reference.
