Vintage Negretti & Zambra London / Kershaw 8×30 Extra Wide Angle Binoculars – British Made, c.1930s
An interesting pair of vintage British 8×30 Porro-prism binoculars, retailed by the well-known London scientific instrument firm Negretti & Zambra and manufactured by Kershaw.
The binoculars carry markings to both prism plates. One side is marked:

The binoculars have traditional centre focusing with separate dioptre adjustment, a black-finished metal body, brown textured body covering and brass-coloured edging characteristic of British binoculars of the period.
The binoculars show considerable genuine age-related cosmetic wear. There is loss and wear to sections of the textured body covering, rubbing and paint loss to the metalwork, exposed brass around some edges, and chips/wear around the eyepiece rims. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
The optics are intact and clean, and the binoculars achieve very clear image for their age.
The central focusing mechanism and eyepiece diopter adjustment operate correctly. These binoculars are very useable as they are.

A leather carrying case is included with the binoculars. The case may not be original to this particular binocular model, but it is a suitable size and accommodates the binoculars well.
The case is made from brown leather with stitched edging and a fitted lid. It shows clear age-related wear, including surface scuffs, rubbing, edge wear and general patina, which are consistent with vintage use. Please view photos for more details.
