Description
For sale is a pair of vintage Ross London Stepnite 7×50 binoculars, marked No. 108100, with Stereo Prism Binocular 7×50 Field 7° markings.
These are a classic British-made Ross Stepnite model, designed as a large-aperture 7×50 field binocular. The 7×50 specification gives a wide exit pupil and was popular for low-light viewing, marine-style observation and general long-distance use.
Main Features:
- Brand/Model: Ross London Stepnite 7×50
- Serial No. 108100 (probably produced circa 1930s)
- Magnification: 7x
- Objective lens: 50mm
- Stereo Prism Field of View: 7°
- Independent eyepiece focusing
- Dimensions (when open): 175mm (W) x 200mm (H) x 66mm (D)
- Weight: approx. 1.1 kg
Note:
The binoculars are in used vintage condition with cosmetic age wear to the exterior. The metalwork shows visible oxidation, surface wear, paint loss, patina and age-related marking, especially around the prism plates, bridge, rims and eyepiece areas. The brown/black textured body covering is complete, with age wear and discolouration but still fitted well to the body.
The eyepieces and objective lenses are intact. The optics are clean internally and the binoculars produce clear images when viewed through. So these binoculars are very useful as they are.
Both eyepiece focusing mechanisms work well and binoculars open / close as normal.
